Winding paths and stone bridges lead up through a lovely old broadleaved forest giving way to open mountain where we trace the paths followed by the young boy ,Setanta, who went on to become Ulster’s greatest Celtic Warrior,Cu Chulainn.Like all great walks we finish at a fine Irish country pub !
Beginning and finishing in the charming medieval sea-side village of Carlingford, this walk crosses part of the Tain Way through ,Queen Maebh’s Gap alongside megalithic tombs and the ‘lost’ village.
This moderate to challenging graded walk takes you well off the beaten track to climb County Louth’s highest peak. You’re well rewarded with a really stunning, rugged ridge top walk.
Take a hike along the rugged Gabbro ridge of Slieve Foye with stunning views in all directions. Finish in the beautiful Medieval village of Carlingford.
